Countries Need a Ministry for the Future
How do governments prepare for the future?
According to Sweden’s Minister for Strategic Development from 2014 to 2016, Kristina Persson, “Every country should have a Ministry for the Future.” Politicians need to absorb new information from leading authorities and working groups from different fields to implement solutions to important issues of the future.
- The government leader must be responsible for key tasks that has horizontal influence and coordination across a number of ministries and not a single vertical.
- Governments need to be organized to coordinate as solutions depend on one another.
- Good governance is important to develop a holistic view (instead of siloed) to address the right issues at the right time.
