Lured by the promise of work and prosperity, some 1.3 million people move to urban centres every week. Half of the global population already lives in cities, and by 2050, that proportion is expected to increase to 68%.
As the world’s biggest cities scramble to house millions of new residents, the pressure is on to ensure cities are well planned to manage growth and maximise efficiency and sustainability.
